Business Description
Here at Ten Mile Farm, we raise Nigerian Dwarf goats (a miniature dairy breed), several breeds of chicken, Texas bluebonnets, and a variety of Texas native and naturalized flowers, grasses, and plants.
Every Spring, we have a small number of Nigerian Dwarf goat kids available for purchase, and occasionally, we sell adult goats as part of our herd management and breeding program.
We also sell farm-fresh eggs from our free-range hens. Currently, our flock includes Barred Plymouth Rock, Silver-Laced Wyandotte, Rhode Island Red, and Easter Egger hens. Our Rhode Island Red rooster "Big Red" must feel lucky to have such a diverse harem.
We plan to add vermicomposting and apiculture to our farm soon. We've already set up our worm bed and will be filling it with red wigglers soon. As for bees, we expect our bees to arrive next Spring, so maybe we'll have some delicious honey in time to make great Christmas gifts for 2012.
